Ethanol Fuel
Hello and welcome to Ethanol-Earth.com. I have designed this website to help enlighten our fellow brothers and sisters on the uses of ethanol and other sources of alternative fuel. We live in a world where the cost of gasoline is at an all time high and the inflation rates are not seizing to rise. It won't be long until many of us cannot afford to drive our cars anymore due to the unaffordable price of fuel. However, before that happens, we have an opportunity to bring one of earth's greatest natural resources into our everyday life. If you have never learned about the great benefits of ethanol and how it can be used for alternative fuel, please keep reading.
Ethanol is an alcohol based form of fuel. It is made through the fermenting and distilling of crops which are broken down into simple sugars. Both Brazil and the United States have a high production rate of ethanol fuel. While Brazil makes their ethanol fuel from sugar canes, the US uses other methods including starch crops such as corn or sorghum.
At the moment, Ethanol is most commonly used as a blending source which helps keep the amount of oil consumed low. At the same token, it supports cleaner burning fuel. This is not to say that over time ethanol won't become the standard form of fuel. In fact, E85, an alternative fuel which earned its name by blending 85 percent of ethanol with 15 percent of regular gasoline, is currently an important source for the fueling of flex vehicles. It is believed that if gasoline prices continue to boost, it may push investors and large companies to back ethanol as the main source for alternative fuel. Nonetheless, ethanol fuel remains as a congressionally commissioned enhancer to the nation's gasoline reserves.
It is estimated by the energy department that America alone will consume approximately over 120 billion gallons of gasoline annually by the year 2025. If ethanol fuel is to replace gasoline in the future, it will be a hard feat. Ethanol fuel is currently projected at a 15 billion gallon potential which is only about 12 percent of what the US will consume.
Luckily there are ways for us to get a head start by making our own ethanol fuel right at home.
